William Leo Edmonds, Sr., 82, of Waller, Texas went to be home with the Lord, peacefully surrounded by family on Tuesday, May 21, 2024.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Friday, May 24, 2024 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Canon Funeral Home, 1420 Farr Street, Waller, Texas 77484.  A celebration of Butch's life will follow on Saturday, May 25, 2024 at 10:00am at Canon Funeral Home with Pastor David Cecil officiating. Graveside services will immediately follow at Fields Store Cemetery, 26105 Schneider Road, Waller, Texas 77484.  A gathering following services will be held at Cross of Christ for those who want to join the family for refreshments.

Serving as pallbearers will be Bryan Edmonds, Scott Edmonds, Blake Edmonds, Bradley Edmonds, Parker Edmonds, Tyler Edmonds, Beau Haseloff, and Jason Harr. Serving as Honorary pallbearers are Lucchese Edmonds and Lochlan Edmonds.

William "Butch" Edmonds was born on March 14, 1942 in Waco, Texas and was adopted by Leo Tilman and Jessie Mae Edmonds.  Butch attended Sam Houston High School in Houston, Texas where he was in the band. Following high school, he began his firefighting career in the Houston Fire Department on August 20, 1963, following in his father's footsteps. Butch and Mary Kay were married October 7, 1966 and enjoyed 57 years together. Butch was promoted through the ranks and retired from the arson department in the 1980s. After retiring, Butch and Mary enjoyed antiquing to gather and assemble a fire museum for all to enjoy. Butch was an entrepreneur, starting two businesses that they sold and are still in business today; William and Mary Photography and Edmonds Insurance. In 2001 Butch was the Memorial Fund Committee Chair and played a vital role in the planning and build of the Houston Fire Department Memorial for fallen firefighters. In 2011 Butch was a pivotal part of the foundation of Cross of Christ Lutheran Church in Waller, Texas. Butch and Mary raised three sons; Butch instilled in them a love for God and others, honesty and a strong work ethic.

William "Butch" Edmonds was preceded in death by his parents Leo Tilman and Jessie Mae Edmonds, sister Bonnie Hanson and husband Bob, brothers Tommy and Jimmy Smith, and Granddaughter Katherine LeeAnn Edmonds.

Those left to hold his memory close are his loving wife of 57 years, Mary Kay Edmonds, sister Pat and husband Joe La Barbera, sister in law Cathy Smith, Son William L. Edmonds, Jr. and Wife Pam, Les Edmonds and wife Jennifer, Anthony Edmonds and wife Shawna. William is survived by Grandchildren Bryan Edmonds and wife Kelsey, Scott Edmonds and wife Sierrah, Lesly Haseloff and husband Beau, Lauren Harr and husband Jason, Blake Edmonds and wife Rachel, Bradley Edmonds and Rebekah, Parker Edmonds and wife Shelby, Tyler Edmonds and Olivia, Meagan Edmonds, Lucchese Edmonds, Lochlan Edmonds, 22 Great-Grandchildren (10 great-grandsons and 12 great-granddaughters), and countless cousins, nieces, nephews, and many friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in William's name can be made to the Cross of Christ Lutheran Church in Waller, Texas.
