Wayne C. Schultz, a long time resident of Waller, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, May 7th, 2017. He was 89 years old. He is predeceased by his wife, Robbie M Schultz in August 2012. He is survived by his daughter, Carolyn Schultz Hokanson, of Houston, her husband David Hokanson, their sons Jeffrey and Peter Hokanson, Peter's wife Candase, and their son Edward. He is also survived by his son Bruce Schultz of New York City, his wife Kate Marcus, and their children Eloise, Madeline and Isaac. Additional survivors are Wayne's brother Delbert Schultz of Waller, Delbert's wife Dolly Schultz, and Wayne's sister-in-law Joyce Schultz, widow of Wayne's brother, the late Royce Schultz of Rosenberg.
Wayne Schultz was born in Waller, Texas in 1928 to Edward G Schultz and Lois Armer Schultz. He was the great grandson of William Schultz and Caroline Schultz, German immigrants who settled in the Spring Creek area of northwest Harris County in the 1850s.
Mr. Schultz had a long career as a school administrator in the Waller Independent School District. He was Principal of elementary and junior high schools from 1956 until his retirement in 1983. He also taught history, social studies and coached the junior high football team. After retirement, he served as a director of the Brazos Valley Schools Credit Union.
Wayne was a graduate of Waller High School and attended Blinn College on a basketball scholarship. He earned a Bachelor of Science and Master of Education from the University of Houston. He served in the Texas National Guard and was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Waller and the Waller Baptist Church.
Visitation will be held at Canon Funeral Home in Waller on Thursday, May 11, 2017 at 5-8pm hours. The funeral service will be at Canon Funeral home on Friday May 12, 2017 at 10am with Pastor Blake Nichols officiating. Interment will follow at Shiloh Cemetery north of Prairie View.
