Walter Spear Evans III, age 74 of Waller, passed away on September 9, 2023. Known to all as Rip.

To know Rip was to love Rip, a true Texas legend. His loyalty, gift of gab nature, and true cowboy way of life made him a friend to all. He never met a stranger, and his beer barn was always open to anyone who wanted to share a cold one.

Rip was always down for a good time, a good story, a new project, or just a good ol' therapy session. He believed in celebrating life's joys, mourning its losses, and being there for his friends and family through thick and thin.

His heart was the size of Texas, he loved his family, his wife, his beloved buddy Deets, his kids, his grandbabies, his animals, his tractors, his land, his country….to say the least his love was simply endless.

Rip was one of a kind.

A cowboy never says goodbye, but in the words of Rip, "there's only one way to leave a beer joint."

Rip is preceded in death by his father Walter Evan, Jr. and his first wife Susan Burt Evans.

He is survived by his wife Niki Evans; his best buddy Deets; his mother Renee Evans; son John Michael Evans (Tammy); daughter Amy Hurry (Jeremy); brother Roy Evans (Linda); grandchildren Steven Tyler Ragsdale (Veronica), Kelsey Hurry, Michael Garrett Evans, Kourtney Hurry; as well as other family and many friends.

Visitation will be Friday, September 15, 2023, from 5-7pm at Canon Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be Saturday, September 16, 2023, at 11am at Canon Funeral Home with Pastor Tom Dobbs officiating. Interment will follow at Fieldstore Cemetery.
