Violet Louise Crowhurst, age 99 of Hempstead, Texas passed away on January 30, 2021. Violet is preceded in death by, husband, Leonard Crowhurst; father, John Mathis; mother, Minnie Violet Mathis, brothers, Bryant Mathis, John Edward Mathis and an infant brother. She is survived by, brothers, Donald (Elva) Mathis and Raymond Mathis; Nieces and nephews, Doneva (Ted) McPhetrige, Elva (Curtis) Sevcik, Joyce (Joe) Hester, Kim (Larry) Goodrum, Karen (Steve) Hackett, Janis (Ron) Brening, and Elton Mathis; as well as a host of great and great-great nieces and nephews.

"Auntie" as she was known by her nieces and nephews taught Sunday School for over 50 years, sowing the seeds of a love for Christ in hundreds and hundreds of children. The Hempstead community was her area of ministry whether it was at church, her job at Dr. Brooks' dental office, or simply sharing an encouraging smile or word at the post office or grocery store. We are all better for having an "Auntie" in our lives.   May we all follow her example.

A private Family Funeral Service will be Saturday, February 6, 2021 at 1:30pm at Trinity Apostolic Church in Hempstead with Rev. Johnny Arnall officiating.  A public Graveside Service will be held at Hempstead City Cemetery on Saturday, February 6, 2021 at 3:00 pm.
