Shirley Szymanski, age 65 of Hempstead, Texas was suddenly called home to our Heavenly Father after a brief illness on September 29, 2021.

Shirley was born August 19, 1956 in Houston, Texas and raised in Cypress, Texas by parents Alvin and Thelma Kmiec. In 1976, Shirley married and spent 45 eventful years with the love of her live, her honey, Gary Szymanski.

Shirley spent the majority of her time committed to running the family business, which she inherited from her father and his father before him. With her honey and two sons by her side, Shirley kept the family business running as strong as ever, carrying on the family legacy founded in 1949. In Shirley's free time she could be found in her "happy place" of Concan, Texas at the G&S Ranch where she entertained many of friends under her sparkling cantina lights.

Being one of the most driven and independent women this world has ever known, Shirley constantly stayed busy. It was no surprise to find Shirley on the ranch climbing to and from the cab of the back hoe into the bucket to fill deer feeders in hopes of scoring her trophy buck or wrangling in a bull redfish on the front of her boat in Galveston Bay. From racing horses for money at the local renaissance festival in her early years to dunking unsuspecting friends in the frigid waters of the Frio River, Shirley showed no fear or hesitation when it came to living life to its fullest.

While many knew Shirley for her bold, tough love personality, those who truly had the privilege of knowing Shirley were blessed to see her heart of gold which she dedicated most to her family. Blessed with her first grandchild, Aniston, in 2016 she instantly became the light of Shirley's life as well as her mini me in training. Shirley often teased her sons about taking care of their "sister" Spurski, her beloved dog whom shared Shirley's love for the Frio River.

She is preceded in death by her parents Alvin and Thelma Kmiec; sisters Janice Wagner, Sandy Grimm; infant brother Joseph Kmiec.

She is survived by her husband, Gary Szymanski; sons Garett and wife Amanda Szymanski, Lyman and wife Charley Szymanski; beloved canine companion Spurski; brother Alvin Kmiec and wife April Kmiec; grandchildren Aniston Kate Szymanski; Steely Fay Szymanski due in March; as well as numerous friends.

The family will receive friends Friday, October 8, 2021 from 5-8 pm. Funeral Services will be Saturday, October 9, 2021 at 11 am at Canon Funeral Home in Waller, Texas followed by a Celebration of Life at the Knight's of Columbus Hall in Hempstead, Texas. Shirley will be laid at her final resting place Monday, October 11, 2021 at the Rio Frio Cemetery near Concan, Texas.
