Sherri Simpson Rumph passed away peacefully on March 4, 2015. She was born to Jim and Betty Tye Simpson in Lubbock Texas on July 7, 1949, the oldest of five children. Sherri is preceded in death by her father Jim Simpson and sister, Krista Simpson. Sherri graduated from High School in 1967, then attended Texas Tech University until 1970, then moved to Arlington Texas. Sherri married Danny Rumph on December 29, 1970

Sherri was a devoted wife who excelled in creating a loving home for her family and all who came through her doors. Food was love, and her culinary skills allowed her to love and be loved by all. Dubbed the "Gourmet of the Kitchen", she was the life of the party. Her garden and her greenhouse were her sanctuary where she spent many hours.

She was a selfless partner in marriage who quietly played many instrumental roles in her husband's pursuits, both in business and pleasure. She was the best wife, partner, soul mate and confidant ever.

As a mother, she spent her life imparting devotion, wisdom and a keen sense of humor to her son Joey.

Sherri's happiest moments were spent surrounded by family, food, horses, dogs, cattle and gardening at her ranch in Waller.

Our horses took us many places, cities and horse shows. She acquired many friends along the way that we ride and show with. We recently had a wonderful experience at Ft. Worth in February when two of our horses earned world class recognition. It was very special to enjoy those five days at Will Rogers Coliseum with Sherri.

She recently told her husband that she "had a good ride", and she did.

A cancer survivor since 2012, she was an inspiration to many whose lives she touched. Her strength, courage and faith sustained her to the end.

She was blessed with exceptional doctors, nurses and caregivers at North Cypress Medical Center.

Sherri is survived by her husband, Danny Rumph; son Joey Rumph; mother, Betty Simpson; brothers, Scott and wife Trena Simpson, Clay and wife Susan Simpson all of Floydada and sister, Rusty Simpson of Irving. She is also survived by her nieces, Neisha Clemens and Na'Lyn Swartz of Lubbock and nephew, J.C. Simpson of Irving.

A life celebration will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2015 at 5:oo pm at the Champion Cowboy Church in Hockley, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society or the Champion Cowboy Church.
