Ruth Lorene Fontes, age 88 of Waller, passed away on April 28, 2026.

Ruth was an artist, painter, and sculptor. She worked at HISD as an art teacher.

She is preceded in death by her parents Frank and Ruth Westmoreland.

Ruth is survived by loving husband of 50 years Reginald "Rick" Fontes; sons David Hallaway (Elaine), Mike Hallaway (Joyce), Jonathan Hallaway (Xenia), Joseph Fontes (Casey), stepson Michael Fontes; daughters Rose Wherry, Ruth Renee Stone, stepdaughters Lisa Snyder, Valora Frazier (Jerome); brother Franklin Westmoreland; sisters Carol Russell, Ann Elizabeth Westmoreland; as well as many grandchildren, great grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

Ruth is in the care of Canon Funeral Home.
