Ellen Ruth Wacker was born February 12, 1957 to Willard Edward Lanier and Condit Maxwell Lanier in Houston, Texas. Ruth graduated from Westbury High School in 1975. While volunteering for Easter Seals Society she met the love of her life Doug Wacker. Ruth and Doug were married on June 10, 1978 in Church of the Holy Spirit. Their journey in life together kept them in Houston until 2004 when they opened up a business in Harlingen, Texas and then Anchorage, Alaska but eventually led them back to the Houston area.

Ruth and Doug are proud parents of three children: daughters Ellen and her husband Mike Watson, Kathryn and her husband Charles Sims and son Douglass J. Wacker. Grandchildren: Braden Watson, Brooke Watson, Garrett Sims, and Charlotte Sims. Sisters: Maree Lanier Allen and husband Rick, and Edith Maxwell Lanier. Ruth is also survived by many friends who loved her dearly.

Ruth loved life. She learned to love the outdoors, and to hunt and fish which her father taught her at an early age. She loved her family dearly, but most of all she loved her God, which was evident to all as she battled cancer bravely and with a faith that God held her in His arms.

A Celebration of Ruth's life will be held at Resurrection Lutheran Church, 1612 Meadow Edge Lane, Spring, Texas 77388 at 11:00 A.M. Saturday January 18, 2020.

In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society or Stand Up 2 Cancer.
