Richard Joseph
Savage
Nov 21, 1944 — Sep 22, 2021
Richard Savage, age 76 of Hockley, passed away on September 22, 2021. He is preceded in death by his parents Edward Sr. and Mildred Savage; wife Mary C. Savage; infant daughter Kristina Marie Gustafson; granddaughter Amy Garcia; brothers Edward, Roland, and David Savage. Richard is survived by his children David Savage, Terri-Marie Schmidt and husband David, Robert Savage and wife Lori, Kelly Anne Garcia and husband Eric, Michael Savage and wife Dawn; grandchildren Jessica Ponder, Jacob Schmidt, Katie Schmidt, James Ponder III, Sara Anne Garcia, Joshua Schmidt, Cassandra Garcia, Kaitlyn Savage, Justin Savage, and Ashley Savage; great grandchildren Stacie Ponder and Samuel Ponder; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends and family.
Our father, Richard was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving in several areas including the island of Guam during the Vietnam War. He and his late wife, Mary, made their home in Guam for a few months in 1968 until she returned to the states to give birth to their first child, David. After leaving the Air Force and having 4 more children they moved their family to the Southwest and eventually landed in Texas where they made their home since 1982. Our dad loved our mom with all his heart… they could often be found dancing in the kitchen or making googly eyes across the dinner table. We grew up knowing that our parents loved each other. He took care of our mom during the hard years of Alzheimer's until she went to Heaven in July. He loved his grandchildren and Great Grandchildren as any good "Pop Pop" would. He attended recitals, baseball and softball games, band concerts, volleyball games, Taekwondo competitions, choir concerts, Grandparents Day, Veteran's Day Celebrations and numerous graduations. He was looking forward to a couple of weddings coming up for two of his grandkids and a planned trip to see his sister this week in New Jersey. The loss of our dad has left a huge whole in our hearts…he will be greatly missed.
