Nina Lou Wilson McCaig
February 14, 1925 – July 7, 2018

Nina Lou Wilson McCaig was born on February 14, 1925 in the once-thriving Madison County community of Laceola, now just a faint memory on old photographs, the first of four daughters born to Napoleon Bonaparte "Poley" Wilson and Elsie Orine Land Wilson. She claimed her heavenly home on July 7, 2018 at the age of 93.
Lucy, as she was called by her sisters, graduated from Madisonville High School in May 1941 at age 16, and married her sweetheart, Albert Marvin McCaig, in August 1941. They were married for 65 years until his death in 2006.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Marvin McCaig, her grandson Raymond Clayton "Clay" Arnold, and her sisters, Annie Lee Wilson Rogers, who died in February 2018, and her baby sister, Vivian Clorice Wilson, who died as a toddler.
She is survived by her sister, Elsie Imogene Wilson Gustavus and her husband, Virgil; her four offspring: Nancy McCaig Arnold, A. M. "Buddy" McCaig, Jr. and Kitty Keeling McCaig; Linda McCaig Engel and Walter "Wally" Engel; and Betty Kay McCaig Hart and Don Hart.
She is also survived by grandchildren Nancy Rae Arnold Smith; David Scott Arnold and Amanda Gonzales; David Engel; Sarah Somers De Avillez and Gus De Avillez; Sarah Engel; Elizabeth Hart Dominguez and Stephen Dominguez; Amanda "Blake" McCaig Haller and Joe Haller; Matthew Somers and Jessica Heward Somers; Thomas Hart and Hanna Hayes Hart; Don McCaig and Taylor Gibson McCaig; and Rebecca Hart Rowlett.
Her fourteen great-grandchildren always put a smile on her face – Ashlynn Smith; Joseph and Andrew Arnold; Hannah and Noah Engel; Levi and Adelynn De Avillez; Oscar and Wilson Dominguez; Kate and Oliver Haller; Hunter and Harrison Hart, and Penny McCaig.
Also cherishing her memory are eight nieces and nephews, their spouses, and dozens oAf their children and grandchildren.

Special thanks to her caregivers, the ladies who cared for her as though she was family: Mildred Thompson, Bonnie Werner, and Gina Westmoreland.

Visitation will be Friday, July 13, from 5-8 p.m. at Canon Funeral Home, 1420 Farr Street in Waller. Funeral services will be held at Waller Baptist Church, 2520 Cherry Street at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 14, officiated by her son, Albert M. "Buddy" McCaig, Jr. Burial will follow at the Waller Cemetery on Stokes Road. Honored to serve as pallbearers are grandsons David Arnold, Matthew Somers, Thomas Hart, Don McCaig, Stephen Dominguez, Joe Haller, and Gus De Avillez, along with her sons-in-law Don Hart and Wally Engel. Serving their grandmother as honorary pallbearers are her other grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
