Mertie Sparks, age 95 of Pine Island, passed away on July 29, 2020. She is preceded in death by her parents Columbus and Lula Lunsford; husband Preston; 2 sisters; 7 brothers. She is survived by son Jimmy Doyce Sparks and wife Sheila; daughter Jeanette Freeman and husband Joe; grandchildren Dale, Dana, Doug, Joe, Beth; great grandchildren Blaine, Jesse, Cassidee, Brinlee, James, Anna, Helen Kate, Hugh, Preston, Payton, Carson, Justin, Jayden, Benjamin, Andrew, Noah, Joshua, Hannah; great great grandchildren Grayson, Bowen; as well as many other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be Sunday,  August  2, 2020 from 2-3 pm at Canon Funeral Home. Funeral Services will follow at 3 pm with Pastor Andrew Lehmann officiating. Interment will be Monday August 3, 2020 at 1 pm at Oak Bluff Memorial Park, Port Neches.
