Melvin Leroy Acock, was born Tuesday September 15, 1942 in Belleville, TX to Milton Leroy Acock and Margaret Thompson Acock. He passed away Thursday October 2, 2025.

After High School, Melvin joined the US Army. After boot camp he spent time in the Reserves. After being discharged he was in the trucking business for several years.

Hempstead was Melvin's home! He lived there almost his entire life. He was a gentle man and loved animals…especially his dog Trixie.

Melvin also played the guitar. His favorite song was "Farewell Party".

He is preceded in death by his parents Milton and Margaret Acock; nephews John Burke and Edward Metzig; and brother-in-law Bill Metzig.

Melvin is survived by his loving wife of 50 years and 9 months Shirley Acock; brother Don Acock and wife Linda; sister Gwendolyn Metzig; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

A Memorial Visitation will be held from 4-8pm Tuesday October 7, 2025 at Canon Funeral Home.
