Matilde Rosas De Vela, age 75 of Hempstead, passed away on October 25, 2019. She is preceded in death by her parents Eluterio and Josefa Rosas; son Jose Candelario; brother Roel Rosas; sisters Rosalba Hernandez, Angelica Rosas and is survived by her husband Jose Vela Sr.; sons Ramon Vela, Raudel Vela Jr.; daughters Angelica Contreras and husband Jose, Maria Herrera and husband Adam, San Juanita Vela and husband Angel Calderon; brothers Horacio Rosas and wife Margarita, Armando Rosas, Dolores Rosas and wife Rosario, Dario Rosas; sisters Maria Suarez and husband Jesus, Hermila Avalos; 16 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; as well as many other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be Monday, October 28, 2019 from 4-7pm with a Prayer Vigil at 6:30 pm and a Rosary at 7pm at Canon Funeral Home.  Funeral Services will be Tuesday, October 29, 2019 at 10am at St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church with Father Xavier Bilavendiran officiating.  Interment will follow at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.
