Mary Ybarra, age 90 of Hempstead, TX., passed away on January 24, 2024. Her unwavering faith, which guided her throughout her life, was reflected in all she did for her family and community.

Mary was a loving mother and devoted partner to Tom through their 66-year marriage. A hard worker, Mary was always in motion, tirelessly taking care of her husband and family and lending a helping hand to others. Her steadfast support and love provided a strong foundation for her family, setting a lasting example for them.

Mary adored her grandchildren and they filled her heart with joy. She would light up whenever she spoke about them; eagerly sharing their latest achievements and cherished moments.

Mary was well known for her talents in quilting and cooking. Her skilled hands transformed fabric into amazing quilts that warmed both bodies and hearts. And in the kitchen, her cooking was widely admired. From her famous apple pie to her homemade tortillas and fried chicken, Mary's delicious dishes were requested by friends and family alike, becoming a staple of every special occasion.

Mary will be deeply missed by her family and friends, who will cherish the memories of her love, kindness, and caring presence in their lives. Though she may be gone, her spirit will continue to live on in their hearts.

She is preceded in death by her parents Cruz and Francisca Gurrola; husband Thomas Anthony Ybarra; brothers Martin, Sam, Steve, Victor; sisters Josie, Janie.

Mary is survived by her daughter Patty Wrench and husband Steven; son Michael Ybarra and wife Lisa; sister Estella Rivera and husband Rey; grandchildren Morgan Mai and husband Mason, Reagan Easley, Kate Ybarra, Thomas James Ybarra; great granddaughter Mila Mai; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other family members and friends.

Visitation will be Thursday. February 8, 2024, at Canon Funeral Home from 5-7pm with a Rosary at 7pm. Funeral Services will be Friday, February 9, 2024, at 10am at St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church with Fr. Ed Kucera officiating. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.
