Lola Cook Akins gracefully took the hand of Jesus and stepped into eternity on June 15, 2016 in Cypress, Texas at the age of 92.
Lola was born in Sarepta, Mississippi on February 10, 1924 to James and Essie Cook. She was married to the love of her life, Oliver Akins, for 57 beautiful years. She worked as an auditor at Sears Roebuck for35 years and the remainder of her career at Lawrence Marshall Chevrolet in Hempstead. She and her husband were very active members of First Baptist Church of Hempstead where they both loved serving others and spending time with their friends. Lola spenther last few years at Grace Care Center of Cypress where she was loved by all. She never met a stranger and a stranger never left her side the same.
Lola is survived by her only son, Frank Akins and his loving wife Linda of Hempstead. Granddaughters Tami Karisch and her husband Chad of Hempstead; Heather Tognazzini and her husband James of Frisco. Greatgrandchildren Cole, Reid and Calli Karisch and Danielle Carothers. She is preceded in death by her mother, father, brothers and sisters; her granddaughter Candi Akins and her one true love - Oliver Akins.
Visitation will be at Canon Funeral Home on Monday, June 20, 2016 from 6-8pm. Funeral Services will be Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at 10:00 am at First Baptist Church in Hempstead, TX with Danny Wendt officiating. Interment will follow at Canon Mathis Cemetery 17922 Mathis Rd. Waller, TX 77484.
