Lester Turpin, age 86 of Waller, passed away on August 26, 2022. He is preceded in death by his parents James and Betty Turpin

and daughter-in-law Debbie Turpin.

Lester was a building manager for high rise buildings around the Houston area for 50 years. He retired from Exxon Mobile in 2002.

He and Marlene resided in the Cypress area for 52 years. Then Hurricane Harvey hit in 2017. Their house flooded for the first time ever. They moved back to Waller and have been here for 5 years. They have had a happy 66 (almost 67) years together.

Lester was diagnosed with malignant sarcoma in 2000. He had multiple surgeries on his left leg, where it started. On his 1-year checkup in 2002 it was found in both lungs. He had surgery to remove 1 wedge out of one lung and 2 wedges out of the other one. He had chemo and lived almost 22 more years. Lester was good about being checked out at M.D. Anderson every six months. In fact he had been there receiving a good report the day before the stroke.

He enjoyed life and loved being with people. He was a People Person !!

Lester is survived by his loving wife of 67 years Marlene Turpin; son Rick Alan Turpin; daughter Julie Ann Schuller and husband Herman; grandchildren Shannon (Clegg) Herndon, Wendy (Craig) Boyd, Misty Lee Turpin, Chelsey (Jace) Dagley, Shandy (Jeremy) Paquet, Jacey (Ben) Collins; great grandchildren Cooper Herndon, Jaydon Dagley, Braydon Dagley, Kolbie Boyd, Hadley Herndon, Ellie Boyd, Gatlyn Tilley, Nola Paquet, Westin Paquet, Lestyn Turpin, Maybrie Lynn Paquet; as well as many other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be Tuesday, August 30, 2022, from 5-7pm at Canon Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be Wednesday, August 31, 2022, at 1pm at Canon Funeral Home with Pastor Tom Dobbs officiating. Interment will follow at Fieldstore Cemetery.
