Kay Griffin Kiker, age 86 of Hempstead, passed away on September 9, 2020. She is preceded in death by her parents Kay and Bessie Griffin and her brother Duey Griffin. She is survived by her husband John Kiker; her daughters Margaret F. Kiker, Leigh Anne Tomlin and husband Allen, Susan C. Koenig and husband Mark; grandchildren John Tomlin and wife Haleigh, Ryan Tomlin, Colin Tomlin, Kayley Tomlin; great grandchildren Emmett Tomlin, Wesley Tomlin; as well as several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Kay and John began their married life together on June 1, 1963 in Kingsville, Texas. John was the love of her life. She was a city girl that married a cowboy and never understood why it worked so well. They were best friends and it showed in their 57 years of marriage.

Kay taught school for 37 years. She taught 5 ^th grade through the 8 ^th mostly, 7 ^th and 8 ^th were her favorites to teach.

Her family always came first. She loved and protected them fiercely. She was always a lady and greeted you with the warmest, sweetest and most beautiful smile you will ever see. She gave the best hugs! Kay, Mama, Grandma we will carry you forever in our hearts.

Visitation will be Monday,  September  14, 2020 from 9-10am at St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church. Funeral Services will follow at 10am with Fr. Xavier Bilavendiran officiating. Interment will be at 3pm at Fairview Cemetery in Stowell, TX.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the charity of choice.
