Loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.  Born in Dallas, Texas at the beginning of the depression and raised in Irving, Texas. She was the eldest daughter of Cecil and Beatrice Camp along with one brother and sister. Due to the hard times, the family's mode of transportation was often a motorcycle with a homemade sidecar.  Her mother rode in the sidecar with the youngest and Johnnie sat on the gas tank while her father drove and brother sat behind him.  Through these depression and war time years, many items we take for granted in our current times, were rationed.  Johnnie spoke of how the family loved sweets but sugar was rationed, so to be able to bake sweets, the family would take the spoonful of sugar they would normally put in their coffee or tea and place it in an empty sugar bowl.  When the sugar bowl was full, Mrs. Camp would be able to bake a cake or make a pie.  It was growing up in these times that molded her character.

In June 1949, Johnnie married James A. Deel and they were married for 56 ½ years, raising two children.  Johnnie supported James through all his aircraft vocations and hobbies.  She was often recognized as the "cake, cookies, sweets" lady, receiving accolades for her treats at the various aircraft gatherings.  Not one to be idle, she enjoyed making sock monkeys for many newborns and loved giving away her handmade angels.

Predeceased in death by husband James, sister Joann Haley and grandson Michael Simpson, Johnnie is survived by brother Jackie Camp and Wife Loretta, son, Jerel Deel and wife Gil, Daughter, Joyce and husband Doyle Johnson, along with grandchildren, Brady Simpson and wife Christie, Cora and husband Kevin Richbourg, Cameron Johnson and fiancée Amanda Joyner, and Cecily and husband Joseph Bruce and eight great grandchildren

A Memorial Services will be held at Canon Funeral Home Saturday  November 9, 2019 at 2pm with Pastor John Isom officiating.
