Johnnie Wayne Braun age 71 of Waller passed away on March 26, 2018. He is preceded in death by his father, Johnnie A. Braun; and is survived by mother, Dora Braun; wife, Linda Braun; daughters, Kristen Robison and husband Buddy, Laurie Gallway and husband Steve; sister, Sandra J. Dawson and husband Milton; grandchildren, Jason Gallway, Evan Gallway, Riley Robison, David Robison, as well as numerous other family members and dear friends.

Johnnie Wayne was born on October 12, 1946 in Washington County, Texas. Growing up on a dairy farm, he learned to love rural life and the outdoors. He attended elementary school in Hempstead and later in Waller. He graduated from Waller High School in 1965, earned his AA Degree from Blinn College in 1967 and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Psychology from the University of Houston in 1970. After college he joined the Marine Corps Reserves and proudly served his country, his God, and the Corps while supporting his family. Having worked at Tennwood Country Club during his high school and college years, he later went on to become the Assistant Golf Pro. He thoroughly enjoyed his years at Tennwood and loved working with people and playing golf. He later worked for Tri-County Sweeping and Liere Farms in Hockley.

Johnnie Wayne was baptized at Saint John's Lutheran Church in Burton in 1946. He was confirmed at Saint John's Lutheran Church in Waller, and in 1969 Johnnie Wayne and Linda Musil were united there in marriage and have since been members.

Johnnie Wayne loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved taking his daughters, nephews, grandsons, and other family members fishing. He especially loved salt water fishing and enjoyed the gulf air. He enjoyed taking his grandson and nephew hunting and always taught them to respect wildlife and nature. He was at home in the garden, working in the yard, and participating in sports. In later years when his COPD made being active more difficult, he enjoyed watching all his favorite westerns (especially "John Wayne" movies), sports, and bull-riding on his big screen. He loved his family and friends and never met a stranger.

Visitation will be Wednesday, March 28, 2018 from 5-7 pm at Canon Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be Thursday, March 29, 2018 at 2pm at St. John's Lutheran Church with Reverend Sandra Jones officiating. Interment will follow at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery.
