John Paul Utsey, age 89 of Hempstead, passed away on February 27, 2026.

Johnny was an avid storyteller and farmer. He was a true friend to many.

He is preceded in death by his parents John Washington and Lillie Ivy Utsey.

John is survived by his lifelong friend and life partner Katherene King; sons Randal J. Utsey and wife Karon, Roy N. Utsey and wife Sharon; daughter Robin E. Mehringer; grandchildren Ryan Johnston, Natalie Chapa, Roy N. Utsey, Jr., Michael W. Utsey; great grandchildren Kylee Utsey, Hailey Utsey, Natalia Utsey; as well as many friends.

Visitation will be Thursday, March 5, 2026 from 10-11am at Hempstead Church of Christ. Funeral Services will follow at 11am with Pastor Kristopher Moore officiating. A private interment will be held at a later time at Hempstead Cemetery.
