Jo Ann Winsett age 86, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, cousin, and friend was called home to her Heavenly Father on October 12, 2021. She was surrounded by family as she slipped peacefully into eternal rest.

She is preceded in death by her mother Ruth Berry Cheek; stepfather Marvin Cheek; brothers Dale Buford and James Cheek; and grandson Andrew Wayne Wade.

Left to honor Jo Ann and remember her love are son Billy Winsett; daughters Sherry Winsett, Eva Hobock, and husband Jay Hobock; grandchildren Jason Wade, Danielle Pollard, and husband Timothy Beardsall; great grandchildren Hailey Wade and Skyler Beardsall; cousin Howard Berry and family; The Cheek family; many cousins and friends.

Jo Ann was born on February 8, 1935, in Lawn, Texas. She lived for many years in Houston, Texas and resided after retirement in Hempstead, Texas. Jo Ann worked for Harris County Courthouse for over 31 years where she was very successful in all that she did. She was a very talented artist and enjoyed painting most of her life. She was a faithful servant of the Lord and lived each day as an example of how to treat others as Christ would.

Jo Ann was the kindest, strongest, and most loving person. She had a bright smile that would cheer your day, just by being near it. She always saw the best in people and could bring out the best in people. Her love for her family and friends was unconditional, genuine and pure. Jo Ann loved her family and family traditions. She made amazing food and loved to provide a meal to anyone who visited.

Jo Ann was very funny, loved laughing, loved living, and loved discussing politics. She was a guiding light and the best example of kindness, honesty and strength. She never tired of giving her love and being a helping hand, listening ear or shoulder to cry on. All who met Jo Ann felt her kind spirit and was touched in some special way. She was a one of a kind and will be dearly missed by all that knew her.
