Jesus "Chuy" Avila, beloved husband, brother, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, May 31, 2020. He was 83 years old.
He was born in Refugio, Texas on February 5, 1937 to Crespin Avila and Celestina Porras. He retired after 36 years at the Hockley Salt Mine.
He enjoyed fishing, was a huge Dallas Cowboys fan and was a jack of all trades. He especially loved spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and three of his sisters Dominga Avila, Mary Jessie Garcia and Janie Avila.
Jesus will be dearly missed by his loving wife of 61 years, Ernestine Avila of Waller, Texas; his six children Fernando (Vonnie) Avila; Sylvia (Martin) Aguilar; Lucinda (Aaron) Parker; Susie (Michael) Riemer, Amanda (Bill) Rohrman; and Joe Rey (Ruth) Avila; all of Waller, Texas; 13 grandchildren, Jessie and Jennifer Avila, Jessica Hall, Tina Lynn Aguilar, Antonio Aguilar, Ike and Skyy Riemer, Tyler, Trevin and Tanner Rohrman, Leonardo, Rae´ Lea, and Jonah Avila; 13 great grandchildren, brothers Joe Avila, Crespin Avila, Ventura Avila, Santos Avila, Beto Avila, Conrado Avila and sister Flora Gonzalez.
Visitation will be Wednesday, June 3, 2020 from 5-7pm with a Rosary at 7pm at Canon Funeral Home. Visitation will also be Thursday June 4, 2020 from 10 – 11am at Canon Funeral Home. Funeral Services will follow at Canon Mathis Cemetery with Deacon John Pelletier officiating.
