James Fred Loofs Jr., age 81 of Hempstead went to be with his wife, Betty on Thursday, July 12, 2018. He is survived by daughters, Cindy Peters and husband Herman, Kathy Bridges and husband Kevin, Cathy Larson and husband Guy; sons, Jay F. Loofs and wife Chris, Steven Loofs; brother John Loofs and wife Sandra; sisters, Nancy Hickman and husband Ray, Lucy Ward and husband Ray, Patti McNiece and Jay Waggoner, as well as numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Fred served as worship master in the #808 Masonic Lodge. He was District Deputy in the Masonic District. He also was past potentate in 1996 at the Arabian Temple.

Fred served 36 years as a police officer in the Houston Police Department. He retired as Sergeant J. Fred Loofs, Badge #1723.

Visitation will be Tuesday, July 17, 2018 from 5-7 pm at Canon Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at 10am at Canon Funeral Home with Pastor Blake Nichols officiating. Interment will follow at Houston National Cemetery at 1pm.
