Grover "Smokie" Whatley, Jr., age 67 of Hockley, passed away on February 26, 2020. He is preceded in death by his parents Grover and Diane Whatley and  his wife of 21 years Charmane Whatley. Smokie is survived by his brother Farley Whatley and wife Lisa; sister Karen Wenske and husband Melvin; nieces and nephews Farley Whatley, Jr. and wife Jennifer, Michelle Zachary and husband Zack, Mel Wenske III, Kandice Staudt and husband Travis; great nieces Avery and Avilyn Whatley, Eva and Julia Staudt; sons Daniel Whatley and his wife Kimberly and step-daughter Paige Cobb, J.D. Whatley and his wife Michelle, and son Nolan Whatley and step-daughter Emily Sensing; as well as other numerous cousins and friends.

Donations may be made in lieu of flowers to South Texas Paint Horse Club, 1007 Vivroux Ranch Road, Seguin, Texas 78155. Please document in the memo that the funds are for The Whatley Scholarship Fund.

A Memorial Service will be Saturday,  March 14, 2020 at 2 pm at Canon Funeral Home with Pastor Kevin Smith officiating.
