Gladys Verna Knebel went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on May 4, 2018 at the age of 94. She was born to Hulda and Adolf Knebel on Dec. 18, 1923 and was a wonderful and loving aunt, sister, and friend. She was the last remaining sibling to her eleven brothers and sisters; Willie Knebel, Elsie Wawarofsky, Lillie Frey, Leslie Knebel, Ola Segers, Milton Knebel, Gertrude Davis, Adolf Knebel Jr., Kermit Knebel, Ora Lee "Kitty" Dennison, and Dorothy Andrew. Gladys is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

To those who knew her best, she was lovingly known as "sis". She was a lifelong Waller, TX resident, a well known and recognized member of the community, and active in her church, St. John's Lutheran. She loved attending events, parties, and gatherings of any kind and always lit up the room. Everyone knew when Gladys was there. She loved to entertain by playing her harmonica or accordion, and was always eager to share that she could still jump rope. She was a country girl through and through and preferred to be outside as much as possible. Gladys could often be found sitting under the pecan trees in her yard, and even into her 90's she still loved to be on her mower cutting the lawn. She was looking forward to the reunion she is now celebrating with loved ones who have gone on before her. She longed for the day she would see them again. Her family, friends, and community have lost a bright and shining light and she will be greatly missed.
