Gary Szymanski, age 67 of Hempstead, Texas was suddenly called home to our Heavenly Father on June 24, 2024.

Gary was born April 22, 1957 in Houston, Texas and raised in Cypress, Texas by parents, Teddy and Peggy Szymanski. In 1976, Gary married his high school sweetheart and spent 45 eventful years with the love of his life, Shirley Szymanski, before losing her in 2021; his heart was never the same.

Gary spent most of his time committed to running the family business alongside his wife, Shirley, and with the support of their two sons, Garett & Lyman. For many years, Gary built lasting relationships, both business and personal, with the people he worked with. It was not uncommon for him to spend hours on end engulfed in a good conversation with the people he knew.

As much time as Gary spent working, he found equal time to let loose and enjoy time with friends and family. In his younger years, Gary was an adventurous soul, which is likely how he caught the eye of Shirley. Gary started his rodeo carrier skipping class to buck out bulls at the Cy-Fair rodeo arena and when the thrill of riding faded, he moved to the role of Rodeo Clown. From the arena floor Gary would keep the cowboys safe while entertaining the crowd with his contagious smile. After his retirement from the rodeo scene, Gary dedicated his free time to the things Shirley loved, she was his favorite hobby. Together they went on various adventures, from reeling in the big one on a deep-sea fishing boat off the coasts of Mexico to shopping for their next movie relic find at a dispersal sale in Brackettville, Texas, they did it all. In between work and adventures they built their perfect getaway at their G & S Ranch in Concan, Texas where he made precious memories with his beloved granddaughters and loved to entertain family and friends. Gary was happiest when surrounded by the ones he loved.

Gary is preceded in death by his wife, Shirely Szymanski; father, Teddy Szymanski; and brother, Michael Szymanski.

He is survived by sons, Garett and wife Amanda Szymanski, Lyman and wife Charley Szymanski; mother, Peggy Ruth Szymanski and partner Charlie Martin; brother David and wife Judy Szymanski; grandchildren Aniston Kate Szymanski & Steely Fay Szymanski; as well as numerous beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Serving as pallbearers will be Garett Szymanski, Lyman Szymanski, Heath Blazek, Kirt Baldwin, Matt Bakies, and Matthew Szymanski. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Charlie Martin, David Szymanski, and Leamon Brantner.

The family will receive friends Thursday, June 27, 2024 from 5-8 pm at Canon Funeral Home in Waller, Texas. Funeral services will be Friday, June 28, 2024 at 12 pm at Canon Funeral Home followed by a Celebration of Life at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Hempstead, Texas. Gary will be laid at his final resting place Sunday, June 30, 2024 at 10 am at the Rio Frio Cemetery near Concan, Texas.
