Frank Kluna
Jr.
Feb 17, 1939 — Jan 29, 2021
Friday, January 29, 2021, Frank Kluna, Jr. went to rest in his eternal heavenly home at the age of 81 years.
A native of Hempstead, Texas, Frank was born February 17, 1939 to Frank Kluna Sr. and Jessie Mae Frazier Kluna. He graduated from Hempstead High School in 1957 and immediately began working at the State Highway Department, eventually advancing to Road Inspector. Years later, he continued his career at the City of Hempstead and retired as the Director of Public Works in 2001.
On August 16, 1957, Frank married his high school sweetheart, Beverly Gardiner, and they began building a legacy of love together. Frank enjoyed all things outdoors. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, cattleman, farmer and gardener. He loved to travel and camp, bringing his whole family along for the adventure. He was also known for being able to build or fix anything and was often lovingly called a "collector of junk". He had a knack for turning someone else's junk into something amazing.
Frank not only cared for his own family, but he also extended his love to many others. Known for giving sound advice, Frank was considered a father figure and mentor by countless men and young people.
Frank is survived by his wife of 63 years, Beverly Kluna; his sister Kathryn Cheek; his children Janie Derrick, Joan Sargent, John Kluna and wife Christi, Joy Younts and husband Alan; his grandchildren Jason W. Panetti, Brian Derrick, Sara Karisch, Samantha Karisch, Joshua Kluna, Justine Kluna, Tyler Chambers, Stephen Younts, Faith Younts, Travis Younts, Luke Younts, Seth Younts and Lydia Younts; and his great grandchildren Jason, Bridget, Slade, Zane, Dean and Julius.
Frank is preceded in death by his parents Frank Kluna Sr. and Jessie Mae Frazier Kluna; granddaughter Abigail Younts; and son-in-law Fred Sargent.
The family would like to thank Life Changes and the Encompass Hospice Service for helping them care for their husband and Daddy during his last days here on earth.
A Celebration of Life for Frank is pending.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Royal Ambassadors at the First Baptist Church of Hempstead, 445 Main Street, Hempstead, Texas 77445.
Frank is in the care of Canon Funeral Home.
