On September 18, 2022, Francis Ida Wilson was called to her eternal home with Jesus, where she joined the love of her life, Jesse Race Wilson. She was born January 28, 1938, in Wenatchee, Washington, to Chas A. & Ora M. Jeffries.

Francis was the youngest of three children. Growing up in Washington State, she had a special fondness for apples. She loved anything made with fresh apples and introduced her Texas family to Applets & Cotlets, and was known for her fresh apple cakes and pear pies. She also collected apples in every shape and size, and her favorite was the red delicious apple.

In the mid-50s she joined her sister Roseanne in Houston. Roseanne and her husband Cecil lived in Spring Branch next door to Jesse's brother Roy. When Jesse visited Roy, he saw a pretty blond next door and wanted to meet her; and as they say… the rest is history. They married February 19, 1960.

Jesse was inducted into the Army December 7, 1960 and was soon stationed in Germany. He sent for Francis as soon as he could. They formed some great and lasting friendships while there. When they returned stateside, they taught their nieces and nephews to say Ich Liebe Dich (I love you in German) and Peach Tree Tea.

Aunt Francis wore many hats in her 84 years, she worked in the meat department at Fairbanks Supermarket where she learned all about meat cutting. She also worked at the Hockey Sale Barn on sale days and at San Bernard Electric Co-op. But ultimately, she was a farmer's wife. She raked hay in the afternoons so that "the men" could start baling and hauling it as soon as they got home from work. Then she and her two sisters-in-law would drive the loaded trucks from the field to the barn.

She and Jesse also had a garden that was the envy of many. They loved sharing their harvest with friends and family.

Although she never had children of her own, she had 50 nieces and nephews that she loved dearly. Because they lived next door (across the envied garden) she was like a second mother to David, Brenda, Bonnie, Denise and Theresa. And later in life she became Nana to many of her great nieces and nephews. Over the years she was a "babysitter" for at least 14 of them. She and Jesse doted over and spoiled each of them, and they still love and respect her to this day.

Francis is preceded in death by her husband Jesse Race Wilson; parents, Chas & Ora Jeffries; sister, Roseanne Dodd, brother, Charles "Chuck" Jeffries; nieces, Tracy Key and Reba Pat Jeffries; and nephew, Jerry Dodd: as well as numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, and many nieces and nephews.

She is survived by brother-in-law, Roy Wilson and wife Bebbiann and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Wednesday September 21, 2022, from 10-11am at Canon Funeral Home. Funeral Services will follow at 11am with Pastor Art Musgrove officiating. Interment will follow at Fieldstore Cemetery.
