Evelyn Louise
Wendt
Mar 10, 1939 — Oct 25, 2023
Evelyn Louise Wendt, 84, of Hempstead, TX went to be with our Lord on October 25, 2023
Evelyn was born in Hempstead, TX on March 10, 1939, daughter of William and Mary Lehman. She grew up in the Brookshire/Hempstead area and attended Patterson High School. After graduating from high school, she married Wallace Wendt, who preceded her in death in 1997.
Evelyn is survived by two sisters; Shirley Stevens of San Antonio, TX and Sharon Lehman of Hempstead, TX; nieces Michelle Shedd and husband, Thomas, of Orange Grove, TX and Melissa Lehman of Portland, OR; nephew Kevin Lehman and wife, Detra, of Hempstead, TX; and great nephews; Kylar, Cody, Owen, Hayden, Wyatt and Nolan.
Evelyn leaves behind a family that will remember her for the beautiful person that she was. She was a private and quiet person but also very witty and fun to be with. She loved spending time with her friends and family. She could be strong willed and stubborn at time but those traits defined Evelyn. They were a part of who she was and undoubtedly helped her deal with life's challenges. From an early age she suffered with severe rheumatoid arthritis. She was a strong fighter until the end and never complained.
"Love is stronger than death even though it can't stop death from happening, but no matter how hard death tries, it can't separate people from love or take away our memories."
Nothing can replace the love of a sister. Even though "You Flew Away", in our hearts forever you will stay. I hope you feel at peace, like you always made us feel.
Heartfelt appreciation goes out to Detra for the loving care that you provided during her time of need. Although our hearts are heavy, we will celebrate her life and find comfort that she is now in heaven and still watching over us. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Visitation will be Saturday, October 28, 2023, from 10:00am to 11:00 am at Canon Funeral Home. Funeral Services will follow at 11:00 am with Pastor Danny Wendt officiating. Interment will follow at Hempstead Cemetery.
