Esther Sedonia Brewer, 95, went to be with her Lord and Savior on August, 22, 2025. She peacefully surrendered as she was surrounded by her family.
Sedonia was born April 20, 1930 in Beaumont, Texas to her adoring parents, Felix and Lucy New. As a child, Sedonia could be found mostly outside looking for a project that she could do with her father. She was a natural athlete and very competitive as a young women she enjoyed activities such as roller derby and later in life could be found at the bowling alley. Sedonia and her late husband, Clyde Brewer, toured Texas with their band and always a had a great story to tell. She had an incredible sense of humor that always left you smiling long after she was gone.
She spent her life in service. As a nurse, she spent many decades helping others on their worst day and others on their best days. She was one of the first flight nurses for life flight in Houston and in her later years, used her experiences to work with the elderly to provide them with comfort and companionship. She was also known as a child of God and spent her whole life serving him and her church. Sedonia could always be found singing in the choir and attending one of many church groups. She was a humble and faithful servant.
Sedonia is survived by her daughters, Renee and James Prestidge, Darline Jacobson and Gene Bridges, Tina Perkins, and her son, Russel and Haley Brewer, Elaine and David Mikulena. She also has 11 Grandchildren, 22 Great Grandchildren and 12 Great Great Grandchildren. She is proceeded in death by her Husband, Clyde Brewer. Sister, Maybelline Young and Brother, Bishop New. As well as her sons, Skipper and Bruce Brown and her grandson, Michael Prestidge.
Visitation will be 10-11am Friday, August 29 and Services to honor Sedonia will follow at 11 am, at Southwinds Baptist Church 16811 FM 2920 Road, Tomball, TX 77377. Graveside services will be immediately following at Woodlawn Cemetery at 1101 Antoine, Houston, TX 77055.
