Elva Mathis, age 90 of Hempstead, passed away on December 8, 2022.

She is preceded in death by her parents Joe B. and Mary Dewees and siblings Mary Jo Elkins, Parham Dewees, Claude Dewees, James Dewees.

Elva is survived by her loving husband of 71 and a half years Donald Mathis; daughters Doneva McPhetrige and husband Ted, Elva L. Sevcik and husband Curtis; brother John Dewees; grandchildren Jennifer Nelson and husband Matt, Dana Rouse and husband Mark, Jonathan Blythe and wife Jennifer, Scot McPhetrige and wife Sally; as well as numerous other family members and friends.

Visitation will be Sunday, December 11, 2022, from 4-6pm at Canon Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be Monday, December 12, 2022, at 1pm  at Canon Funeral Home with Rev. Johnny Arnall and Rev. Ron Martin officiating. Interment will follow at Old Salem Cemetery.
