Elton Raymond Mathis, Sr., age 92 of Hempstead passed away on April 17, 2025.

He is preceded in death by his parents John and Minnie Mathis; his loving wife Bobbie Ann Mathis; and grandson Daniel Hackett.

Raymond is survived by his daughters Kim Mathis Goodrum and husband Larry, Karen Hackett and husband Steve; daughter-in-law Holly Mathis; son Elton Raymond Mathis, Jr.; brother Donald Mathis; grandchildren David Hackett, Bobbie West and husband Brian, Melissa McGonagill and husband Ian, Allison Hackett, Sarah Hackett, Charles Hackett, Andrew Mathis, Henry Mathis; great grandchildren Nora Rose McGonagill, Austin West; honorary daughter Lori Pfeffer and husband Bobby; as well as many other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be Sunday, April 27, 2025 from 1-2pm at Canon Funeral Home. Funeral Services will follow at 2pm with Steve Hackett officiating. Interment will follow at Old Salem Cemetery.
