Eddie Ray Hargrave, age 80 of Katy, Texas, passed away on July 22, 2021. He is preceded in death by his parents Tom Franklin and Ruby Hargrave, and brother Tommy Deryl Hargrave. He is survived by his wife Kathy Hargrave; sons Glenn and wife Ariana Hargrave, Galen and wife Carol Hargrave; brothers Robert "Bobby" and wife Cheryl Hargrave, James Vernon and wife Kimberly Hargrave; granddaughter Lumen Mari "Astronaut" Hargrave; as well as many other relatives and friends.

Eddie Ray Hargrave was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather. For years he helped out in the community by coaching little league and leading the youth in 4H and FFA. He helped with numerous BBQ fundraisers, grilling by the railroad tracks in Hempstead.

Eddie Ray loved going on yearly deer hunting trips with all his friends and family. During the holidays, he enjoyed spending time with his relatives at family gatherings. He especially enjoyed watching football and playing poker with his uncles, brothers, and nephews. And as everyone knows, a Hargrave is never wrong… so you can imagine how the conversations went at those family gatherings. Eddie Ray was a typical Hargrave until the very end, when he knew more than the doctors.

Most important of all, he loved his wife of almost 49 years, his kids for which he would do anything, and his little granddaughter. We love you, Dad, and thank you for always being there for us.

Visitation will be Tuesday, July 27, 2021 from 6-8 pm at Canon Funeral Home.  Funeral Services will be Wednesday, July 28, 2021 at 11am at Canon Funeral Home with Pastor Blake Nichols officiating.  Interment will follow at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery.
