Obituary

Dylan Ryan Smart, age 21 of Hempstead passed away on February 28, 2016. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, George Griffith, Sr., and Ernestine and Allen Sage, and survived by parents, Rusty & Carol Smart; brothers, Weston Smart & Laura Mullins, Kevin Smart & Jeriann Frazier, and James Smart, Jr. & wife Melissa; sister, Meghan Makouske and husband Dan; nieces, Kilee, Taylor and Allison; nephew, Jesse; grandparents, Herbert and Martha Smart as well as many other family members and friends.

Dylan was born April 12, 1994. From a very early age he had a love for school and baseball, and was very dedicated to both. When Dylan started high school he was honored to become the catcher for the Hempstead Bobcat varsity team. His heart swelled with pride every time he stepped onto that field.

Dylan gave 110% with everything he did. He had his life all planned out until May 18, 2010, when Dylan was diagnosed with a brain tumor. From that point on, inspired and encouraged by his teachers and coaches, his lifelong plan changed from attending Rice University to become an engineer to becoming a teacher in order to help and inspire others as he had been.

Dylan graduated with honors from Hempstead High School in 2013 and was attending Blinn College in Brenham.

His Goal in life was to help others, and that is how he will be remembered.
