Dwight Patrick Schild, age 68, passed away on Wednesday January 14, 2026, in his home surrounded by his loving wife and children.

Dwight was born on March 16, 1957 in Houston, Texas, to Opal Marie Schild and August William Schild, both of whom preceded him in death.

He was the beloved husband of Cynthia Lynn Oglesby, wife of 48 years. They were high school sweethearts for 5 years and married on September 17, 1977. They built a life together rooted in loyalty, devotion, and enduring love. Their marriage became the foundation of a strong, close-knit family.

Dwight was a devoted father of 7 children, grandfather to 20, brother, and friend to many. He is survived by his wife and his children: Dustie and husband Eric Mach; Harley Schild; Braxton Schild and significant other Stormy Fisch; Tyler Schild and wife Brittney Olson; Quinten Schild; McKenzie and husband Sean Williams; and August Schild.

He was known and loved as Pa to his grandchildren:  Ashley Mach; Kyla and husband Chase Duvachelle; Camden and husband Caleb Skow; Durham and Marshall Mach; Hayden and Barrett Schild; Lexi, Levi, Christopher, Braxton Schild, and Taryn Schmidt; Teancum, Ada and Jack Schild; Kuvira and Kynlee Williams; Lincoln and Tatum Schild, and Willow Pylant-Schild. His grandchildren were among his greatest joys, and his love for them was constant and unmistakable.

Dwight is also survived by his siblings, Mary Candace Schild (Candy) and John Theodore Schild (Teddy) and wife Virginia, brother-in-law Randall Scott Oglesby (Randy) and wife Melissa along with many extended family members and friends.

Dwight spent most of his life farming in Waller, a role that shaped his strong work ethic, resilience, and deep respect for the land. Later, he transitioned into the steel industry, where he continued to work diligently until retiring for the second time in 2017. He also served his community for many years as a dedicated member of the Waller Volunteer Fire Department and a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

Well known and deeply respected, Dwight leaves behind a legacy defined by hard work, integrity, and unwavering devotion to God and his family. He was a steady presence, a man of his word, and someone others naturally turned to for guidance and strength. His influence will live on through the family he raised, the values he modeled, and the many lives he touched.

Though our hearts ache in his absence, we are profoundly grateful for the life he lived and the legacy he leaves behind. His love will continue to guide us, his lessons will continue to teach us, and his memory will forever be a blessing.

Services will be held Sunday January 18th, 2026 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Viewing at 1:30, Service at 3 o'clock at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 2325 Mayer-WALLER Road, Waller, TX 77484, He will be laid to rest directly following the service in the Waller Cemetery in Waller, Harris, Texas alongside his parents. Dinner for family and friends at 5:00, back at the Church.
