Dorothy Mae Pfeffer Bremer peacefully entered her eternal home on March 11, 2023. Born on July 30, 1938 in Sunnyside, Texas, she was the youngest child of Walter and Ella Katherine Pfeffer. After attending school in Hempstead during her early years, she made her home Hockley, Texas. On March 3, 1956, she married James Leroy "Jimmy" Bremer in Bellville, Texas, together they had four children, who in turn blessed her with seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Dorothy was a devoted pillar of faith for her family and in 1969, she joined Salem Lutheran Church in Rosehill, Texas where many of her children were married and grandchildren were baptized. In 2002, she joined St. John's Lutheran Church in Waller, Texas where she regularly sat front row for the baptisms, confirmations, and marriages of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In 1982, Dorothy opened her flower shop, which became a passion she passed on to her daughter and granddaughters. She later retired informally from her floral career at her daughter's flower shop, but her love for flowers extended to her gardening and yard work, especially with her azaleas and rose bushes.

Dorothy was a skilled seamstress who found joy in creating garments without a pattern, including wedding dresses for her daughter and daughter-in-law, costumes each Halloween for grandkids, curtains, and more. She also enjoyed painting and crafting. In her free time, she could be found in the kitchen cooking her famous dishes, including macaroni and cheese, pecan tassies, cinnamon toast, dewberry cobbler, and fried squash.

She cherished the outdoors and shared that love with her family through activities such as hammocking, beach-going, and horseshoe pitching, which led her to participate in multiple Senior Olympics. She was an avid Astros fan and loved taking her grandkids to their first games, especially at the Astrodome.

Dorothy was a Lifetime Committeeman of the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo and served on many committees, including dominoes, horseshoe pitching, and quilting. Her children eventually became committeemen and served alongside her.

Despite enjoying many things in life, Dorothy's greatest accomplishment was her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She taught them the importance of being present, and her love for family gatherings made them all the more special.

Dorothy was rarely seen without her hair and coral lipstick done, and she encouraged the women in her life to wear bright colors with a little fringe and sparkle. She was a bright spot in the lives of many and will be dearly missed, but her legacy lives on through the traditions she instilled in her family.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Wallace, Nelson, Elroy, and Floyd, and sisters Ruby, Darla, and Viola, as well as her mother and father-in-law Henry and Hazel Bremer.

She is survived by her husband of 67 years, James Leroy "Jimmy" Bremer; sons Stanley and wife Lisa of Waller, James C. "Butch" and wife Jackie of Waller, Steven and wife Mary of Galveston, and daughter Stephanie Barro and husband Paul "Looch" of Austin; grandchildren Kyle Bremer and wife Jennifer, Keith Bremer, Brittney Brunner and husband Blake, Kathryn Prior and husband Jacob, Jennifer Bremer and fiancé Dustin Owen, Brandon Worsham and wife Anna, Ryan Bremer, and Aaron Bremer; great-grandchildren Zachary, Richard,  Dyllan Bremer and Blair Prior, Easton and Tanner Worsham; sister-in-law Nancy Mellman and husband William of Hempstead; special niece Christi Myford; numerous nieces and nephews; and many friends. She also leaves behind her faithful canine companion, Whiskey.

The family extends special gratitude to Mr. Frank and Mrs. Hattie Dixon, Mrs. Betty Holloway, Ms. Randee Deans, Mrs. Lillie Wilson, and Devotion Hospice for their loving care.

Vistitation will be Wednesday March 15, 2023, from 5-7pm at Canon Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held Thursday March 16, 2023, at 10am with Pastor Cheryl Lamaak officiating.
