Delbert had a long history of jobs – shining shoes at Mr. Roy's barber shop; sacking groceries at S&N Super Market while attending U of H; working part time at downtown Foley's Department Store; and working in the accounting department at Southern Pacific Railroad. His senior year at U of H, he worked full time and went to school at night and on Saturday. He served in many areas at the Church from cutting the grass to being Church Treasurer for 23 years. He was ordained as a Deacon on November 18, 1966 and served faithfully until his health began to decline.
On February 23, 1958, he married the love of his life, Dolly. She joined him serving at Waller Baptist Church. Their home was always open for youth parties, young adult hamburger socials, Deacon dinners, etc.
Delbert and Dolly were blessed with two children, Laurie and Blake. Blake married Donna who blessed them with one grandson, Connor. The Lord has been good to Delbert with such a full and long life.
