Charlie Morgan, Sr., age 89 of Waller passed away on Saturday, September 3, 2016. He is preceded in death by his wife, Cathrine Dennis Morgan; brothers, W.J. Morgan, Allen "Doc" Morgan, Terrell Morgan and John Morgan; sisters, Lillie Morgan, Pearl Morgan, Ellen Brewster and Edna Hamner. Surviving him are his children, Dorothy Russell and husband Ray, Charlie Morgan, Jr. and wife Tammy and Cathy Hejl and husband Frankie; 8 grandchildren, Stacye Wallace, Paul J. Russell and wife Tara, Timothy Hejl and wife Ashley, Wesley Hejl and wife Michelle, Mary Beth Morgan, Kathleen Morgan, Leigh Ann Morgan, and Charles William Morgan; step grandchildren, Krystal DeLeon, Misty DeLeon and Christian DeLeon; great grandchildren, Tommy Wallace, Riley Russell, Joshua Hejl, Teagan Hejl and Tenley Hejl, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.

Charlie was a lifetime member of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo and helped many young men and women attain scholarships. He was passionate about ranching. He was a director of the National Charolais Association, Past President of the Texas Charolais as well as Ambassador to South and Central America through the United States Agriculture Department, judging that countries cattle. He is in the Charolais Association Hall of Fame and was enshrined into the Who's Who of Agriculture Genetics in Washington DC.

Charlie proudly served our country in the United States Navy. He was in charge of the fire fighters during WWII, on the USS Bexar. As a veteran he was passionate about honoring Fallen War Heroes, and was actively working to have a Veterans Wall of Honor erected at the Waller County Courthouse to honor all of the Fallen Heroes of Waller Count House.

Community was also an important part if his life. He was founder and Fire Chief of the Monaville VFD for many years. And was instrumental in acquiring the land that was donated for both of the Monaville VFD building sites. He also initiated the effort to get the JP 3 office built in Monaville.

Visitation will be at Canon Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, September 6, 2016 from 6-8 pm. Funeral Services will be Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at 10am at Canon Funeral Home with Minister Eugene Dewveall officiating. Interment will follow at Pattison Cemetery.
