Carl Glen Miller, age 84 of Brookshire, passed away on Saturday, April 22, 2017. He is preceded in death by his parents, Bennie and Essie Miller, son, Donald Glenn Miller and sister, Kathryn Lavada Stepleton; and survived by his wife of 64 years, Gladys Joy Miller; daughters, Terry Denise Pickering and husband William "Bill", Ginny Miller Baker and husband Brian; sisters, Claudette Stone and husband Tommy, Wanda White, Ruth Smith and husband Roland; foster brother, Luther Perkins and wife Kathy; grandchildren, William Edward "Dusty" Pickering III, Kacy Morgan Pickering, Harrison Carl Baker, Grace Kathryn Baker; great grandson, Colton Lee Pickering as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other family members and dear friends.
Carl was born on June 29, 1932, in Houston, Texas. He graduated from Pattison High School in 1949 and
married his high school sweetheart, Joy Miller on December 20, 1952. He spent his lifetime as an innovative farmer, cultivating many crops and various grasses. Early on, Carl enjoyed reading Popular Mechanics magazine which enriched his interest in small engines, machines and small aircrafts. He was a member of numerous local and state organizations and gave many hours to his family and community.
His willingness to help others was always greatly appreciated.
Visitation will be at Canon Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, April 26, 2017 from 5-7 pm. Funeral Services will be Thursday, April 27, 2017 at 10am at Canon Funeral Home with Pastor Sonny Rice officiating and Bill and Cindy Way leading the music. Interment will follow at Pattison Cemetery.
