Carl Jones, Sr. went home to the Lord on February 18, 2025. He was born on December 24, 1939, in Houston, Tx to Commie (Sam) and Armatha Marie Harvill Jones.

He attended Friendship Baptist Church as a boy and received Jesus when he was 12 years old. He was baptized in Spring Creek while the congregation sang hymn on the creek bank.

As a young man, Carl was a phenomenal all-around athlete. He excelled at football, basketball, and medaled at the state meet in the 440-yard run. In 2017, he was inducted into the Waller High School Athletic Hall of Honor. He enjoyed playing baseball and softball in the Navy.

He was married to his lifelong soulmate, Betty Hoover Jones on June 20, 1959. Carl joined the U.S, Navy shortly afterwards and serving 4 ½ years between the John A. Bole DD 755 destroyer and the Maryland Communications Center. There he studied electronics and communication. He put these skills to use at the completion of his military service at Texas Instruments where he would work for the next 29 years. At Texas Instruments, he served as a field service agent and eventually created coursework to train TI's field service agents. After he retired, he worked as a real estate agent.

Carl was a proud, devoted husband, father, and grandfather that always put his family first. He coached his boys (and others) in Little League baseball while his wife Betty, coached the girls in softball. He worked countless hours, picking up extra duties to make ends meet for his family. Even so, he rarely missed his kids' (or grandkids' or great grandkids') baseball games, softball games, football games, track meets, golf tournaments, drama plays, concerts, and basketball games. With his wife, kids, and grandkids, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking, gardening, camping, and raising Polled Hereford cows. His children, grandkids and great grandkids are forever grateful for the unconditional love and support of a good father, a true father.

Carl served his community as the Lion's Club President, coach for many baseball teams, and a Deacon at the Monaville Baptist Church. But his most profound impact came from always being a good neighbor and always showing love and hospitality.

He is survived by his wife of 65 + years, Betty Hoover Jones; Children: Cynthia and Scott McLeod, Debra and Marc Moroye, Carl and Jodi Jones, and Christopher and Melynda Jones; Grandchildren: Scotty, (Amanda) and Samantha McLeod, Russell and Jessica Moroye, CJ, Noah, and Daniel Jones, Macy and Caleb Jones; Great Grandchildren: JJ, Luke, and Reagan McLeod; Sister: Gaye Nell Skrivanek; Sister In-laws: Doris Hayes and Alberta Hoover, and numerous nieces and nephews and their families.

In lieu of flowers/plants, please feel free to donate to St. Jude's Children's Hospital or the Monaville Baptist Church.

Funeral Services will be Saturday, February 22, 2025, at 11:00 am at Canon Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Garrett officiating. Interment will follow at Waller Cemetery.
