Bonnie Jean Bankston Sorsby passed away on June 13, 2025 in Houston, Texas. She was preceded in death by her husband Felman Bascom Sorsby; her parents William Jefferson Bankston and Sarah Emmaline Kemp Bankston; brother William Durwood "Jack" Bankston and wife Mary; sister Billie Frances Bankston Gandy Bryant and husband Kent.

She is survived by her stepdaughter Alice McGuffie and husband Joe; stepsons William Sorsby and wife Patti, Steve Sorsby and wife Maria; brother John Thomas Bankston and wife Sue; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nephews and nieces.

Bonnie Jean grew up in Smith County Mississippi and worked as a registered nurse for decades. She and Felman met in Jackson, Mississippi, embarking on an adventure traveling along the unpaved AlCan Highway and exploring Mexico in the 1970's. They settled in Waller County, Texas (Felman's childhood home) where they raised cattle. Bonnie was a family history researcher, and encouraged others with their own research. She took pride in her yard, and enjoyed the wildlife that visited. She loved and was loved by her family, friends, dear neighbors and church.

Bonnie will be laid to rest next to her husband in the Fieldstore Cemetery.

Visitation will be Thursday, June 19, 2025 from 8:30-10am at New Hope Methodist Church. Funeral Services will follow at 10am. Interment will follow at Fieldstore Cemetery.
