Bobby Lee Repka
Bobby has gone to be with the Lord on June 29, 2024.
He was born August 13, 1943 (Friday the 13th), to Roland E. and Aloweise (Mikeska) Repka.
Bobby was preceded in death by his parents Roland E. Repka and Aloweise Mikeska Sassin; wife of 60 years Betty Repka; son Jason Repka; and grandbaby Mattern.
Bobby, with his sister Betty Lou picked cotton in the Fall for Fair money and school clothes and mowed yards for different people. He lived in Monaville until moving to the big city of Hempstead in 1957. He worked at Eckie Mueller Furniture Store and had a Houston Press paper route. He was a volunteer Fireman and a member of St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus.
Bobby met Betty Newcomb in June of 1960. After dropping her off from a date he would head to the river to spend the night with Felix and Sylvester Worchesic, Jimmy Styers and Stanley Schmidt in the Cadillac Inn log cabin they built.
He started working for Newcomb's Furniture in March of 1961, as a delivery boy and learned how to work on appliances. He graduated from Hempstead High School in 1961.
Bobby married his High School sweetheart Betty on July 28, 1963. Their first son Jon was born in 1964, then daughter Sally in 1967 and then son Jason in 1972.
Bobby worked for Newcomb's for 19 years before he and Betty bought Newcomb's hardware on April 1, 1980 from J.E. and Martha Newcomb, Betty's parents. They changed the name to Repka's Hardware until closing it on December 16, 2015.
He greatly enjoyed his grandkids and the great grandkids. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping with the family. He also loved telling jokes and stories.
Bobby was diagnosed with Non-Hodgens Lymphoma on August 28, 1992, He had a bone marrow transplant in December 1994 and had been in remission since.
Bobby will be greatly missed by his son Jon Repka and wife Susan; daughter Sally Mattern and husband Paul; sister Betty Lou Meyers; brother Rickey Repka and wife Barbara; grandson Tyler Repka and wife Kaitlyn; granddaughter Rachel O'Lane and husband David; grandson Tommy Kmiec; granddaughter Melissa Kmiec Anhorn; great granddaughter Alice Rei Repka; great grandsons Cohen Lee O'Lane, Alex Kmiec, Austin Anhorn, Nico Kmiec and Morgan Kmiec; great granddaughters Hailey Anhorn, Ariana Kmiec, and Ada Kmiec; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation will be Friday, July 5, 2024, from 5-7pm at Canon Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be Saturday, July 6, 2024, at 10am at St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church with Fr. Xavier Bilavendiran officiating. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.
