Robert Garrett "Bob" Smith, age 70 of Waller, Texas passed away on May 7, 2016. He is preceded in death by his parents, R.C. "Skeeter" and Melanee Smith, and survived by his wife of 44 years, Debra Smith; children, Shelly Kay Elizalde and husband Rudy, Robert Benedict Smith and wife Christy and Ryon Garrett Smith; grandchildren, Melanee, Blaine and Sloane Elizalde, and Cade and Dane Smith; brother-in-law, Jerry Benedict; niece, Nancy Benedict; cousins, Dr. Rankin V. Hitt, Jr. and Kathy, Lynn and Kin Hitt and families.

Bob was born and raised in Waller, Texas, graduated from Waller High School, and attended Sam Houston State University where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree. He was on the National Championship Rodeo Team in 1968 where he earned points in calf roping and steer wrestling. Bob was a dedicated teacher and FFA advisor. He loved teaching and made a huge impact on the lives of his students. He was a lifelong Christian and served as a deacon at Waller Baptist Church.

Visitation will be Monday, May 9, 2016 from 4:30-7pm at Canon Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at 5pm at Canon Funeral Home, with Pastor Tom Dobbs officiating. Interment will follow at Canon Mathis Cemetery.
