Bettie was born Bettie Roy Peterson to Roy and Fannie Mae Peterson in Belott, TX on June 9th, 1925. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Winston Sheffield, daughter Linda DeLome and husband Louis and daughter-in-law Sheri Sheffield.

Bettie is survived by her sons Gerald Sheffield and wife Novella and David Sheffield and wife Jo of Field Store, TX; brother Billy Ed Peterson and wife Barbara; grandsons Russell DeLome and wife Daria, Winston DeLome and wife Lindsay, and Eli Sheffield; granddaughters
Shelby Sheffield, Jessica Sheffield, and Savanah Sheffield; great grandsons Collin DeLome and wife Kellie and Landon DeLome; great granddaughters Rustie and Peyton DeLome; and great-great grandchildren Bentley and Kaylyn. Bettie is also survived by numerous other family members and a host of loyal friends.

Bettie and Winston were married on June 26th, 1953. They lived their entire married life in the Fieldstore Community in Waller County. Bettie loved her role as a devoted wife and mother. She was a longtime active member of New Hope United Methodist Church in Fieldstore.
Bettie was also proud to be a Charter Member at The Texas Opry Jamboree in Magnolia for over 20 years. In the early years of her marriage she was active in the Home Demonstration Club and later became an active member of The Waller County Historical Society and participated as long as her health permitted.

Bettie lost her husband Winston in 1996 after an extended illness. She continued to live in the country and would not have traded that simple country life for any other. Her smile and friendliness will be missed by all who knew her.

Visitation will be Sunday, July 17, 2016 from 4-7pm. Funeral Services will be Monday, July 18, 2016 at 10am at Canon Funeral Home with Pastor Kevin Kissel officiating. Interment will follow at Fieldstore Cemetery, 26104 Schneider Rd., Waller, TX 77484.
