Obituary

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Benjamin Rios Carrillo, 72, of Hockley, Texas, lovingly known as Don Benjamin, on September 15, 2026.

Born March 31, 1954, in Ejido Agua Fria, Valle de Allende, Chihuahua, to Francisco Carrillo y Trinidad Carrillo. At the age of 14 he arrived in Waller, Texas. In 1976 he married Elidia Dominguez. He was a fan of the Astros and spent his life working as a Farmer and Rancher. Most recently he worked in Hempstead, Texas.

He was a devoted father always there to teach, support, love, and have a good laugh with his family.

As a grandfather, he was best known as Pa; he enjoyed teaching his grandchildren how to work with the animals. He loved giving them rides on the mower, and showing up for every baseball game he could attend. He also enjoyed playing outdoors with them.

Don Benjamin was known for being witty, generous, and an always ready with a joke. Whether he was at work, at home, or at a family gathering, he always found a way to make people laugh. If he wasn’t working on a weekend, he would be at baseball games and working with his animals. Don Benjamin was always there to lend a helping hand.

During the past year he spent much of his time working alongside his nephew and godchild, Juan “Johnny” Ramirez. When they weren't at work, they were trying their luck at the machines, or just hanging out.

Don Benjamin is survived by his wife of 50 years, Elidia Carrillo; children, Rosalba Carrillo, Patricia Carrillo (Gilbert Rodriguez), Erica Carrillo (Jesus Castañeda), Benjamin “Pollo” Carrillo, Jr, (Michelle Salas); his grandchildren, Bianca Gonzalez, Jonathan Gonzalez, Amrielle Zamora, JoeAnthony Zamora, Alexander Garcia, Bryan Castañeda, Lorenzo Torres, Jacob Rodriguez, Claiton Rodriguez, and great grandchildren Ryan Gonzalez and Aylani Zamora. He also leaves behind several surviving siblings, relatives and acquaintances that will deeply miss him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Francisco and Trinidad, sister Maria Paulina Carrillo Rios, and granddaughter Delilah Yelitza Garcia.
